The UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) at the University of California, Irvine, the Alzheimer’s Association Orange County Chapter, and Alzheimer’s Family Services Center are pleased to announce the 19th Annual Southern California Alzheimer’s Disease Research Conference, When Does It Become Dementia? Transitioning from Healthy Aging to MCI and Dementia.The conference will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Irvine Hilton located at 18800 MacArthur Blvd, Irvine.
This year we anticipate over 450 attendees including, caregivers, health care professionals, researchers and community leaders from Orange County and the surrounding communities. The conference is designed to heighten the community’s awareness and knowledge of healthy aging and possible transitions to Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. Information will be presented about current research, causes, treatment, and cure of related neurological disorders, and caregiver strategies to effectively cope with these devastating diseases. Additionally, the conference features presentations by nationally recognized dementia experts from several leading academic institutions, including Washington University, Arizona University, U.C.
