Support Group for Frontal Temporal Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia
UCI MIND provides a specialized support group in Orange County for families of loved ones who have been diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD) or Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). FTD and LBD present unique challenges to families. Frequently, families of loved ones with these atypical dementias find that support groups for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease do not meet their unique needs.
Our FTD/DLB support group meets once a month, providing a forum for caregivers to share experiences with and learn from each other as they seek resources and support to provide the best possible care to their loved ones. Currently our group has over 100 members, but about 12-16 individuals attend per session.
UCI MIND is looked to as an invaluable resource for FTD/LBD caregivers. Support groups are a valuable resource for families coping with the unique symptoms and challenges of FTD and DLB.
