Cutting-Edge Alzheimer’s Research
UCI MIND is at the forefront of Alzheimer’s disease research. For over 25 years, UCI researchers have worked towards understanding the causes and risk factors associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, always with an eye toward effective treatment and prevention. This legacy of research has driven UCI MIND to build a multidisciplinary faculty who are doing work on the cutting edge of Alzheimer’s disease research.
From modeling Alzheimer’s disease through transgenic mouse models to developing new lines of adult human stem cells, and from understanding the role of healthy diet and exercise in preventing memory loss to how inflammation may affect the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease, UCI MIND hopes that through a multi-pronged research approach, we will enhance the speed at which scientists will understand how to prevent memory loss.
