About the Speaker:

Dr. Ruth Benca is a Professor and Chair of Psychiatry & Human Behavior in the UCI School of Medicine and Founding Director of UCI’s new Sleep Medicine Center in Newport Beach that opened in 2018. Her research focuses on the interface between sleep and brain disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, and she has served as principal investigator for a number of important research studies funded by agencies including the NIH and the Department of Defense. Dr. Benca has authored over 150 articles, reviews, and book chapters, including a guide for clinicians on the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders.
