Wellness Wednesday: Healthy Brain Aging

Join us for a live presentation and Q&A with UCI School of Medicine faculty and Alzheimer’s researchers, Joshua Grill, Ph.D., Director of UCI MIND, and Ruth Benca, M.D., Ph.D., Director of UCI Sleep Center. Learn about risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and lifestyle strategies for maintaining a healthy brain as you age. The program will be moderated by Debra A. Hill ’78, M.D., Co-President of the UCI School of Medicine Alumni Chapter.

 

Joshua Grill, Ph.D.

Director of the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND). Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Human Behavior, UCI School of Medicine and Associate Professor, Neurobiology and Behavior, UCI School of Biological Sciences.

Dr. Grill also directs Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement Core for the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and is the leader of the Accrual and Retention Consult Service for the UCI Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS). Read his full bio here

 

 

Ruth Benca, M.D., Ph.D.

Professor and Chair, Psychiatry & Human Behavior, UCI School of Medicine

Widely published in her field, Dr. Benca is an internationally recognized authority on the relationship between sleep and psychiatric disorders and she has served as principal investigator for a number of basic and clinical research studies. Read her full bio here

 

 

Debra A. Hill ’78, MD

Co-President of the UCI School of Medicine Alumni Chapter

Dr. Hill is an alumna from the UCI School of Biological Sciences, and the School of Medicine’s Fellowship Program in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and is also a Psychoanalyst. She has a Private Practice in Laguna Hills where her focus is on helping her patients Thrive, not just Survive. She takes a wellness approach that integrates her training as a Psychiatrist, and Psychoanalyst, with her expertise in Functional/Integrative Medicine.
